2010 Tax Delays: Taxpayers Can File Taxes February 14, 2011
As of January 14, 2011, most taxpayers can file their 2010 income taxes. However, about 50 million taxpayers will have to wait till February 14, 2011 to file their taxes.
Because Congress passed the Tax Relief Act, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010 in late December 2010, the IRS has to update their computers to reflect the tax changes. This law extended some expiring tax cuts at the end of December 2010.
