Single Stop USA is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to slash poverty nationwide by connecting low-income households with benefits such as food stamps, tax credits, child care and housing subsidies.
In as little as 15 minutes, a counselor can access crucial benefits that many people don’t even know they are eligible for, using Single Stop’s own software tool. Then, it guides them through application process and also offers one-on-one free tax preparation, financial and legal counseling, all under one roof.
With headquarters in East Harlem, Single Stop operates more than 80 sites embedded in neighborhood community based organizations, food pantries, shelters, job training sites, community colleges and even jails in New York, California, New Jersey and New Mexico.
