The IRS has announced the launch of a new smartphone app on January 24, 2011. Targeted at iPhone and Android users, this app is designed to give taxpayers easy access to core services, including refund status, tax tips, and tweets. What does IRS2Go offer and how can you download it?
What is IRS2Go?
This is a smartphone app available for download for users of iPhone and Android smartphones. It offers users the chance to use a phone to securely access various tax services on the go. This is the first time that the IRS has produced an app, although the agency currently uses YouTube and Twitter to promote and share key information.
According to IRS Commissioner, Doug Shulman, this app was created as it: "reflects our commitment to modernizing the agency and engaging taxpayers where they want when they want it. As technology evolves and younger taxpayers get their information in new ways, we will keep innovating to make it easy for all taxpayers to access helpful information."
